Susumu Inoue

Susumu Inoue

The place is Komagane in the southern part of Nagano prefecture in Japan. Just at the foot of an almost 2,900 meter mountain still dressed with some snow even in the beginning of June.

We met this nice man, looking much younger than his 67 years, setting some wild herbs to dry in the sun by a noodle shop. Mr Inoue loves his life by the mountain where he goes on a regular base at least for gathering wild herbs of all kind. He uses them in his cooking. We enjoyed talking with him but also the "sansai" and "tempura" soba his son and him cooked for us.

We spent a real quality time with this nice gentleman in his simple shop talking much about herbs and animals, even of a 15 years old snake living peacefully under his house (this snake must be a good 2 meters long) we saw a photo of the "house pet"â¦â¦â¦. Thank you so much for your company Susumu San and also to allow me taking your picture for the 100 stranger project!
