I left a few days ago in Italy with Denny Imbroisiex Top chef and especially at the helm of the restaurant Ida in Paris. We were in the Italian lakes to meet local producers (cheeses, wines etc.), chefs and to enjoy this beautiful region. Very very nice moments in excellent company.

I took advantage of these few days in his company to try to get to know him better, notably through this questionnaire 7 sins Capital.

Pride: Hello Denny, can you tell me what you are most proud of?

Hello Anne. So, I am proud to be Italian, of my origins. When you’ve been on a television show, it’s important to have values to keep your head cool. I know where I come from and how far I’ve come. It’s very important for me

Greed: Does TV make money?

Yes, it pays, but more importantly, it saves time. I estimate that it saved me 10 years. But then you have to choose. If you need money, you may be tempted to accept everything, but you have to be well surrounded and know how to refuse. I am lucky like that.

Envy: What other chef would you have liked to be?

Emmanuel Renaut in Megève. I love this chef, his cooking, the place, the mountains. I go there at least once a year. It’s a change of scenery for me who lived near the sea.  I discover the herbs, the flowers, the cheeses that are the Comté, the Beaufort, the Tomme de Savoie. It’s fantastic.

Anger: What makes you angry?

Hypocrisy!  I can turn a blind eye to a lot of things but not to this.

Lust: Does being a chef bring the extra something with women?

Today, yes. We’re in fashion a bit like rock stars. This is thanks in particular to television shows with Cyril Lignac or Top Chef.

But before, some fifteen years ago, this was not the case at all. I remember when I told my mother I wanted to be a cook, she said, “You’re going to come home, you’re going to stink like your father. Times change!

And then, I would add that today, women cook less at home. So having a man cooking is attractive.

Laziness: Do you ever get lazy when you’re not working?

Never. Even on days off. I work all the time. On vacations my physical rhythm decreases but my mental rhythm is always the same.

Gluttony: What do you have to have tasted at least once in your life?

The real authentic cuisine, that of our mothers, which can only be eaten at home and which reminds us of childhood memories. For me, for example, they are my mother’s or my aunt’s polpette di melanzane.

And now a little questionnaire for Italy :

  • Sophia Loren or Claudia Cardinale : Sophia Loren because it is for me the reflection of perfect beauty.
  • Pasta or Risotti : Pastapasta, pasta, pasta
