Often performed on stage by Rolling Stonesthe song Brown Sugar (brown sugar, brown sugar) speaks of a black slave sold on a market in New Orleans who became a sex object. Her clients, white people, then praise her merits and in particular her taste (hence the refrain: “brown sugar”).

Beyond the allusion to the sexual attraction of black women, the title also refers to drugs since “brown sugar” is an American slang word for brown heroin.
