Yes, I know, it’s a funny name for a recipe but by searching the world wide web, I couldn’t find a better one. A priori that’s what we call it, the egg in the hole (egg in a hole in english in the text) and then that’s it.

I must admit it’s quite fun as a recipe. The principle is to make a hole with a cookie cutter in bread and then break an egg (the famous egg in the hole). ^-^ In addition it’s good and it amazes beautiful mom. What more can you ask for?

For 1 slice of bread

With a cookie cutter make a hole in the bread.

Faites un trou et agrandissez-le si besoin

Make a hole and enlarge it if necessary

Melt the butter, add the chopped flat parsley.

Brush the slice of bread with melted butter, parsleyed on both sides, with the hole in the slice and the piece removed.

On agrandit et on tartine

Enlarge and spread

Place the pieces of bread on a baking tray and bake in an oven preheated to 180°C, rotating heat, for 6 minutes.

When the bread is toasted, take the baking sheet out of the oven. Break an egg in the hole. To make it easier, you can break the egg in a ramekin, that way you will just have to empty the ramekin in the hole.

Salt, add a pinch of Espelette pepper, 2 tablespoons of grated cheese and re-bake, still in the oven preheated to 180°C, rotating heat, for 4 minutes.
